This issue of the magazine El Croquis presents works and projects undertaken during the past four years by the cutting-edge Japanese duo SANAA (Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa), which includes some of the most significant of their career. Featured projects include the Glass Pavillion at the Toledo Museum of Art, Naoshima Ferry Terminal, Novartis Office Building, Zollverein School of Management and Design, New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York and Vitra Factory Building. There is excellent coverage of all of these projects which are illustrated with plans, drawings and photographs. The graphic documentation is accompanied by an essay on SANAA's work by Professor Juan Antonio Cortes. The winner of the architectural competition launched in February 2004 for the Learning Center is at home with ambitious ventures. Kazuyo Sejima et Ryue Nishizawa du bureau Sanaa in Tokyo have projects all over the world have completed projects in Asia, Europe and the United States. Some of their latest structures include the Design School Zollverein in Essen Germany, and 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa Japan. At the end of 2007, the New Museum of Contemporary Art will be completed in New York City. The architects are familiar with the academic world as well. They have also been invited professors at Harvard, Princeton, EPFZ and EPFL. Kazuyo Sejima currently is a professor at Keio University in Tokyo. Ryue Nishizawa holds a professor position at the Yokohama National University in Yokohama, Japan
